Failure Investigations
The materials engineering team is composed of experienced and well qualified metallurgists and material scientists who advise and investigate material problems many of which are manifested as service failures.

Failures can take the form of leaks, fractures, cracks and structural collapse or simply unexpected loss of wall thickness or load bearing cross sectional area.

Those failures can be the result of fatigue cracking, mechanical overload, creep, or due to environmentally induced mechanisms such as stress corrosion cracking, hydrogen embrittlement and liquid metal embrittlement. Metal losses due to wear or corrosion processes can also result in leakage, fracture or buckling.
